Bridgeway Power has achieved a historic milestone by installing the first Virtual Net Metering (VNM) solar plant under BRPL (BSES Rajdhani Power Limited). This landmark project, with a capacity of 21.60kW, has not only set a precedent for residential solar in Delhi but has also opened new avenues for energy sharing and cost savings across multiple locations. With an advanced setup featuring bi-facial panels and micro-inverter technology, this 21.60kW solar installation marks a significant step forward for the capital’s renewable energy landscape.
The project, carried out at a residential site, is a unique application of VNM that distributes solar energy generation across three distinct electricity meters. The setup efficiently allocates the generated power as follows: 50 percent to the primary meter, 40 percent to a secondary meter, and the remaining 10 percent to a third. The plant is powered by cutting-edge bi-facial panels, which utilize both the front and back surfaces for increased efficiency, and micro-inverter technology, enhancing performance and reliability. This case not only showcases advanced technology but also exemplifies how VNM can maximize the impact of a single solar installation across multiple properties.
"Our journey to establish this pioneering Virtual Net Metering installation was not without its challenges, but the dedication of Team Bridgeway has paid off. We navigated complex policies and regulatory requirements to create a replicable model for residential and commercial property owners in Delhi. This installation not only showcases the feasibility of VNM but also opens doors for widespread energy sharing and savings, empowering multiple users within the same power utility network." said Arshi Chadha, Founder, Bridgeway Power.
This model is particularly suited for residential complexes, business parks, educational institutions, and anyone with multiple properties under the same utility. By capitalizing on VNM, they can now offset their electricity expenses and contribute actively to Delhi’s green energy goals without the need for multiple individual installations.
Through this pioneering VNM installation, Bridgeway Power is reducing electricity costs for consumers while driving Delhi towards a more sustainable future. This historic achievement highlights Bridgeway Power’s commitment to advancing solar energy solutions, making them more accessible, efficient, and impactful. As Virtual Net Metering takes hold, it stands to reshape Delhi's renewable energy landscape and set a precedent for similar initiatives across India.
