In addition to making the traditionally tough controls of the Street Fighter series more accessible for newcomers, it also provides a fresh experience for longtime players who are looking for something different. At the same time, it also comes with some caveats.

First, here are the advantages of Street Fighter 6's Modern Controls.

Now here are modern control guides for individual characters. This guide will show the Classic Control equivalents of Modern Control normals for each character as well as which normal and unique attacks are missing. Here is a list of notations to know.

Let's start out with MMA master Luke. This guide will be updated to include the rest of the roster so make sure to check back for updates.

Luke is one of the best characters to use with Modern controls. In addition to keeping a lot of his moves, Luke also gets two easy target combos by mashing Light Attack or Medium Attack. This is in addition to the three Assisted Combos that each character gets.

To give you another way of looking at Luke's available moves in Modern and what's missing, here is a list of moves from a Classic control scheme and their equivalent in Modern mode.

Jamie is another character that performs well with Modern controls. He has access to all of his Unique Attacks, which is a plus. And while he's technically missing two special moves, those "missing" special moves from his command list — The Devil Inside and Swagger Step — can still be performed manually in Modern mode.

Unfortunately, his first assist combo starts with Crouching Low Kick, which you can already perform with his normal Crouching Light Attack. This means he is missing an extra move in Crouching Light Punch, which also means he is missing six normals instead of just five compared to Luke.

Good, old, dependable Ryu is back for more in Street Fighter 6. On the plus side, he has access to almost all his unique attacks except for one. On the down side, Ryu is also missing some key bread-and-butter normals, such as his standing heavy kick and his two-hitting jumping medium punch. He's still usable with Modern controls as all characters are but more technical players might find his missing normals more limiting.

Ryu has access to all his unique attacks in Modern Controls except for Short Uppercut. Solar Plexus Strike is not listed in Ryu's Modern Command List but can still be performed with Assist Button + Heavy Attack.

Down-and-out Ken's got 99 problems in Street Fighter 6's story but his Modern Control setup isn't one — at least compared to some other characters. Yes, he still loses moves like everyone else but his losses are minimal compared to certain characters. Ken has quick access to all his specials and can perform all his Unique Attacks easily. And while the loss of normals such as Jumping Heavy Kick is unfortunate, he retains more of his normals than Ryu.

Note that Chin Buster is not listed in Ken's Modern Command List but can still be performed with Assist Button + Medium Attack x2.

Guile's simpler Modern Control scheme still requires you to charge but you don't have to press forward or up anymore to execute the charge move. Guile is missing five normals, which isn't bad since that's the minimum number of missing moves when using Modern Controls. However, he is also missing several Unique Attacks, largely because he has so many of them in Classic Mode.

Rolling Sobat is is not listed in Guile's Modern Command List but can still be performed by pressing Forward or Back + Medium Attack.

Double Shot is is not listed in Guile's Modern Command List but can still be performed by pressing RT + Medium Attack x2 (can still be combo’d into Sonic Book or Somersault Kick manually)

Recoil Cannon is is not listed in Guile's Modern Command List but can still be performed by pressing RT + Heavy Attack x2 (can still be combo’d into Sonic Book or Somersault Kick manually)

Sonic Breaker is not listed in Guile's Modern Command List but can still be performed with Modern Control by repeatedly pressing Medium Attack + Heavy Attack while his Solid Puncher super is active.

Chun-Li returns a little bit older but much wiser, and less stressed out to boot with the demise of M. Bison and Shadaloo.

Like Guile, Chun-Li loses several of her quite numerous Unique Attacks, including all the punch-based links for her Serenity Stream punch. Her Serenity Stream and Spinning Bird Kick also have to be fully inputted manually. Due to her R2 + Heavy Attack move doubling as a second way to perform Crouching Heavy Punch, Chun-Li loses six normals instead of five.

I used Chun-Li's style a lot in World Tour Mode via Modern Controls and it was certainly up to the task but the loss of several moves does limit her normally high versatility in hardcore versus play.

Spinning Bird Kick is not listed in Chun-Li's Modern Command List but can still be performed manually by charging Down, then pressing Up + any Attack button.

There are bad girls. And then there's Juri Han. Um, yeah, so about that...

That being said, Juri is quite the fun character to use and that applies to her Modern Control scheme as well. You can still stock Fuha charges to open up your options and also link all sorts of attacks and specials.

While Juri loses six normals, she has access to all her special moves and unique attacks, which is a plus for sure. It certainly feels so good to be bad when playing as Juri.

Kyosesho is not listed in Juri's Modern Command List but can still be performed with R2 + Medium Attack. This special can be used as a hit confirm move for chaining.

Go Ohsatsu is not listed in Juri's Modern Command List but can still be performed manually with QCF + Heavy Attack button. You can also still extend it by simply pressing the Special Attack button as long as you have the requisite Fuha charge.

Street Fighter 6 has been knocking it out of the park with its new characters and Manon is no exception. Her combination of fisticuffs and throws are quite fun, especially when throwing in her ability to suck in opponents with her target combos.

Downsides include missing five normal punches and her Standing Heavy Kick, so six normalls all in all. The first hit of her Assist + Heavy Attack combo is also the same as her Back + HP move so it would’ve been nice if the latter was used to get back her missing Tomoe Derriere.

That being said, she's still a blast to use for folks who like to combine regular fisticuffs with easy grabbing. She's strong, you know.
